5 Life Lessons from Erna Basson

BY Erna Basson

Business is hard, I know.  We are faced making tough decisions every day that will impact the rest of our lives, talk about pressure right.  Sometimes you get that feeling that you are done adulting for the day, where is the nearest sandpit to start building sand castle’s right?  That feeling is normal, we all get that feeling at some point and we all experience it more than once.
I have learned so many valuable life lessons throughout my journey and there are 5 life lessons I want to share with you.  Perhaps one of them is exactly what you need to hear today, perhaps you are experiencing that one off day that you just need some kind of upliftment.

Who you spend time with, is who you will become!  Have a very close look at who your friends are, are they a reflection of who you want to become, are they the type of people you want to spend time with?  You should never be the most successful person in your circle of friends, why?  Then you stop growing, stop learning and most importantly get comfortable.

2.  Get out of your comfort zone

You need to go out there and create the life you have envisioned for yourself and the only way you can do that is to get out of your comfort zone.  If you have a goal you are reaching for that takes you out of your comfort zone, you will discover talent and abilities that you never knew you had!

3.  Embrace change - How you change is how you succeed

You need to be willing to change who you are for who you want to become.  Your values need to be aligned with your vision that you have for yourself.

4.  The people you spend time with is who you will become

You need to surround yourself with like-minded positive people when you are on your journey to success.  Always surround yourself with people more successful than you, that way you will keep on growing, keep on learning and keep on living outside of your comfort zone.

5.  Do whatever it takes

You need to be willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals and to be successful.  You have to know what your “why” is, as your “why” will push you when you can’t push yourself.  Your why is what will get you through the tough times & sleepless nights.
